Jesus Christ Superstar – Is it blasphemous?

I’ve only seen part of the movie, but from what I’ve seen, it seems to imply some sort of romance going on between Lord Jesus and Mary Magdalene. And if I remember correctly, there’s quite a bit of petting going on (nothing sexual, though). So I stopped watching.

I thought I’d ask the opinions of a fellow Christian who had actually seen the entire musical or movie.

Was it blasphemous in any way? Did it really portray/imply romance between Lord Jesus and Mary Magdalene?

I’m not asking whether the show is good or not, because I’m sure many would say that it’s spectacular. I’m just wondering whether it’s blasphemous or not. After the whole Da Vinci Code thing, I’m a little wary about things like these, especially if the author/composer was a well known secular writer/composer.

Superficially, the show/movie is correct in some things, but if you look deeper into the message, it’s certainly questionable. The link that I posted has a great breakdown of it all.
