Jesus Birth Date April

jesus birth date april
LDS, Mormons, Why do you believe that Jesus was born on April 6th?

I know the LDS was organized on April 6th.

Also mormon leaders have said Jesus was born on april 6th.

Its in D and C too….20:1.
Mormon leaders have stated that December 25 could not have been the date…. but who really knows…Why claim to “know” the day?

Why does the Mormon Church have to combine the two events?? Organization of their church and Christ’s Birth??

Do you believe because leaders have said so?

Gumby, I never said I thought he was born on Dec. 25.

AND, I do not have “religious leaders”

Historically the time of his birth was said by many Christan scholars as being in the spring sometime.
One of the early prophets stated it was April 6. If anyone can know that is really the only way, as mans records can not really even agree on the exact year of his birth.

The first link shows a article that discuses the date must be in the spring.

Here is what I have found:
As to the season of the year in which Christ was born, there is among the learned as great a diversity of opinion as that relating to the year itself. It is claimed by many Biblical scholars that December 25th, the day celebrated in Christendom as Christmas, cannot be the correct date. We believe April 6th to be the birthday of Jesus Christ as indicated in a revelation of the present dispensation already cited [D&C 20:1], in which that day is made without qualification the completion of the one thousand eight hundred and thirtieth year since the coming of the Lord in the flesh. This acceptance is admittedly based on faith in modern revelation, and in no wise is set forth as the result of chronological research or analysis. We believe that Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judea, April 6, B.C. 1. (Talmage, 1915, 98.)

I included the reference to the site this was found in on the second link.

Edit:
Now I found this:
The final objection is that the belief that Jesus was born on 6 April 1 B.C. is based on D&C 20:1, which alone is inconclusive. True, but we have prophets to interpret scripture. For example, President Harold B. Lee interpreted that verse to mean that 6 April was the anniversary of the Savior’s birth (Ensign, July 1973, p. 2); President Spencer W. Kimball taught likewise (Ensign, May 1980, p. 54).

It comes from the third link.

Thanks for the question, so I could look and learn.
