Christmas – A Time to Share

“Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.”

-Luke 2:10-11

It’s Christmas time again! It is indeed our time to love, to rejoice and to be thankful for all the blessings that we receive from our Savior, the Lord God. Christmas is magical. It is considered as the best time for people to patch up misunderstanding and even embrace their enemies for the sake of reconciliation. Christmas is the most celebrated time of the year that brings so much joy to everybody and brings new life to the ones who have faith in God.

The main focus of Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For Christians, Christmas is a never ending celebration of happiness and thanks giving. We celebrate because we believe that God has given us a Savior to redeem us from our sins and to lift up us during our troubled times, to ease our pains and fears and to help and guide us in our life. In lieu of the celebration, giving and sharing of our blessings is a common thing to us. This is our way of expressing our gratitude to our Savior Jesus Christ. We usually send Christmas cards to our friends and Christmas gifts to our families and relatives. Speaking of gift giving, Christmas becomes the busiest time of the year as people devote time in preparing gifts for their love ones. Selecting gifts, wrapping it and sending it even across the world are so laborious yet joyful activities. Indeed, words are not enough to describe your feelings of happiness.

Let’s think about this, since giving gives us so much joy and happiness, why not make Christmas an everyday celebration? In a deeper sense, it is an undeniable fact that we feel so much happiness whenever we give than to receive. If only we celebrate Christmas everyday, we ca surely feel how blessed we are. If only we share our blessings everyday, maybe we can all enjoy and express our happiness towards our fellowmen. If we only let the spirit of Christmas live in our hearts, maybe we can be forever happy. Yes, one is truly blessed and be forever be blessed by God when he shares. Let us therefore the sharing and giving a year round activity so that we will also be blessed for the entire year.
