Jesus Crucifixion Quotes

Is evangelical theology based on worshiping Jesus, but ignoring what he taught?

I really get the impression that many say they love Jesus and worship him… but when it comes to his own words… they really do dislike his teachings and do their best to cover up what Jesus actually taught.

For example, Jesus himself said that the Crucifixion was NOT good news for mankind. (click on my avatar for documentation)

So is it true that evangelicals say they love the messenger, but in actuallity, they will argue AGAINST his message? (Jesus said “I will have mercy, and not sacrifce.” NOT I will have sacrifice and no mercy.) Check Matthew 12:7. Jesus was quoting Hosea 6:6, which appears to be a condemnation of the idea of sacrifice for sins.

I think you have a point, at least about SOME evangelicals. I don’t think it’s true of all of them, because I do know some people who call themselves evangelical Christians who do seem to follow Jesus’ teachings as much as they can.

But I agree that many seem more concerned with preaching to others without regard for what Jesus himself actually preached.
