When you see Republican Christians support torture and the death penalty, is it ironic considering Jesus death

Jesus was tortured and killed by the government. Why then to Republican Christians permit torture and the death penalty?
Funny about “christians dont support torture”. Check friday’s newspaper.

If you are a Catholic you cannot support either due to the Church’s dogma. We are taught all life is sacred.

I am appalled to be considered part of the same religion that have people using the Bible to support the death penalty. Eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, can easily be overturned by turn the other cheek.

Or people calling themselves Christians who assault either physically or verbally those seeking abortions or those who work in abortion clinics. Jesus lead by example, not physical or verbal intimidation.
