Is there a biblical backing for Christians to be so involved with politics in the United States?

Personally, I do not believe so. If you look at Jesus, he challenged the individual person to reform his or her own life. Even the apostles never tried to enter into the political arena of their times. Paul went before Casear at the end of Acts, but we are not told what happened. Most Christians say he preached the gospel to whoever he faced.

I really think American Christianity has been hurt more by people such as Falwell, Dobson, etc who claim to represent Christians and Christ in this country (US) by getting involved in politics then the “postmodern” movement. Think about it. When did Christianity lose its influence in the US? Its when people like Falwell and the like got involved with politics.

The church needs to focus on the Great Commission Jesus gave us to spread his word and MAKE DISCIPLES. That means discipleship.. one person at a time. If the church would disciple its people we will change our country more than when we try to “rule over” everyone.

Are you asking or postulating? Is there a reason a Christian needs Biblical backing to be involved in politics? I believe whether I am a Christian or not, I am a citizen with all the rights of a citizen, including being involved in politics. Would God want this, yes I believe so. Do I need to have that stated in the Bible, no I do not.

Such incredible growth is also b…
