Jesus Fish Car Plaque

I just ordered one of those Darwin-fish car plaques! You know, the Jesus fish sprouting legs and “Darwin” in the middle. I see em’ every once and a while and laugh every time! lol I finally decided to get one…but I’ve heard stories about people getting they’re car keyed or tires slashed for having it. Does that really happen? Is this a bad idea? I don’t see the problem…Christians get to put a fish on their car…why can’t I?

Although I think it’s terrible that people would resort to vandalizing a vehicle for displaying a Darwin fish, I also see how it could be offensive. The Darwin fish is an obvious, direct parody of the Jesus fish, as opposed to a genuinely independent idea. (You even said yourself, “the Jesus fish sprouting legs…”) I personally don’t approve of bumper stickers, car plaques, ect. that make fun of religions, religious figures, or religious icons, largely because of the potential to offend people, but I also do not approve vandalism…

Big picture, I believe that you have every right to express yourself the way you want, even if it is offensive to some, without having your vehicle vandalized. I don’t know if people actually react that drastically, but it is smart of you to take that into account before displaying your new car plaque. I hope everything works out for the best.
