How long does it take to have a really small tattoo done?

I would like to have a really small tattoo on my right foot… a Jesus fish symbol… nothing filled in, really simple. kinda like this:

how long do you think it would take?

Figure on being in the tattoo shop for about half an hour. The artist will need a bit of time to set up, and it’s been my experience that that takes the same amount of time, no matter how complex or simple the tat. The tattoo itself shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

Now, on your foot…That’s going to hurt. I know, because I have a good sized feather tattoo on the top of my foot, and I was shaking with the pain. You can buy some lidocaine cream, over the counter, and if you really glob it on thickly, covering it with plastic wrap, one to one and a half hours ahead of time, you probably won’t feel a thing. You might also be able to find Emla Cream, which is a stronger version, and will numb the area perfectly Emla is usually prescription only, but sometimes you can find it without the prescription. Ask at the pharmacy counter. Also, if you have a regular doctor, he or she will probably be willing to call in the prescription for no charge.

Mind you, most tattoo artists, and those with tattoos, make fun of people that use numbing creams, but personally…I don’t care what others think. I don’t like pain, so if I can avoid it, I do. I just wipe the cream off before the tattoo artist is able to see that I used it.
