Especially for our UK (Aussie & Kiwi )cousins…When & what is “Boxing Day”?

I know only a wee bit about it. I’d appreciate it if someone could tell us a bit about the history and current practices of helping keep Christmas day as a rejoicing in song &/or dance, quiet prayer, & fellowshipping with fellow believers in Christ Jesus & celebrating His birth. Then, gifting family & friends on “Boxing Day”. Please tell us more.

yes, Boxing Day has nothing to do with fighting, it’s about boxed gifts

however in the UK (as in most other parts of the so-called Christian world) Christmas day has little to do with religion, prayer or the birth of Jesus … mostly it’s a day for family to get together, have a huge celebration meal, eat too much, drink alcohol … Boxing Day was once a time for giving boxed gifts but that has long past and mostly people open their presents on Christmas morning … often people put their gift-wrapped presents under the Christmas tree in advance so that by Christmas morning there is a huge pile which is especially exciting for the children (although grown ups love it too)

yes, some people will go to church, either the midnight mass on Christmas Eve or the morning service on Christmas Day … others might go to a Carol Service during the week before Christmas
