Jesus Manifesto

expository religion paper. ideas?
I’m writing an exposition paper for my religion class on atheism. I need to somehow make a connection between the views of all of these men – Strauss, Feuerbach, Marx, Bakunin, Nietzsche, Freud.
The works that we’ve discussed are:
-Strauss: “Definition and Characteristics of the Gospel Myth”, and “The Life of Jesus”
- Feuerbach: “The Essence of Christianity”
- Marx: “Thesis on Feurbach”, “A Contribution to the Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right”, “German Ideology”, “Communist Manifesto”
- Bakunin: “God and the State”
- Nietzsche: “On the Genealogy of Morals and Ecce Homo”
- Freud: “The Future of an Illusion”
I realize that all of these guys are considered “Young Hegelians”…. other than that, I’m not exactly sure what I can discuss that connects all of these men. I’m just looking for a general idea of where to start… This is my first religion or philosophy class and it just so happens to be above the 300 level! :O
Ask yourself how each author approached the topic when they wrote about it. For example:
Marx was primarily concerned with religion’s social role, a theme he also explores here: http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1844/jewish-question/index.htm
Bakunin and Neitzsche, the one an egalitarian and the other an elitist, both criticized the moral and psychological effects of 19th-century Christianity.

Jesus Manifesto: Restoring the Supremacy and Sovereignty of Jesus Christ $4.75 “So that in everything He might have the supremacy.” -Colossians 1:18 Christians have made the gospel about so many things-things other than Christ. Religious concepts, ideas, doctrines, strategies, methods, techniques, formulas, “its” and “things” have all eclipsed the beauty, the glory, and the reality of the Lord Jesus Himself. On the whole, Christians today are starved for a real ex… |
