jesus redeems prayer
Why don’t I feel redeemed after being saved?

I have said the prayer asking Jesus into my heart and to take over my life but, I have never felt any different. I mean, I don’t feel Him changing me in any way. When I pray I feel like I’m talking to the air around me. I read the bible often and I’m not any closer to Him or God. I try to be a good christian but that doesnt work either. I get more depressed. It’s like They don’t want me, so I give up. I even started searching other means to spirituality(gnosis christian) for some guideance and I’m not sure about that either. I do believe in a higher power and that I didn’t come from apes. If someone could help out I would be appreciated.

You are having a problem “feeling” saved because being saved is not a feeling, nor is it based on emotion. If you have truly recieved Christ, you are saved, whether you feel any different or not. It is not like taking a magic pill that fills you up with happy feelings…although some experience great joy afterward because of their change in understanding. When you realize you are truly saved and that sin cannot keep you from going to God…you “feel” wonderful. When you realize that Christ took away all sin, past present and future, then you are not dealing with issues of guilt and shame like you were before and you realize you can approach God without fear of condemnation. You can access the throne of grace and truly enjoy a close relationship with your Creator. It can create a wonderful feeling. But nothing has to happen in that regard for you to be saved. Wonderful glowy feelings aren’t necessary for you to know your saved. It is a mind understanding and the heart responds, not the reverse.
