First Igorot bishop, martial law foe dies; 81
Francisco Claver, the first Igorot bishop whose campaign for social justice during the martial law years helped frame the Philippine Catholic Church’s policy of active nonviolence that inspired the peaceful People Power Revolution of 1986, died yesterday. He was 81.
