This Same Jesus?
In Acts 1 : 11 we read:
“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
I understant this verse to mean that Jesus’ second coming will be in the same way He was taken up to heaven. He left on a cloud visibly; the Lord is coming back on a cloud visibly.
If this is the case, then why do Christians insist there is a secret rapture of the church?
The word RAPTURE is not found anywhere in the Bible.
What are your thoughts on the verse above?
What are your thoughts on the rapture of the church considering that the rapture idea has not been around that long?
You are confusing two distinct things – the Rapture of the Church, which is plainly described in I Thessalonians 4:13-18, and the Second Coming of Christ to establish His earthly Millennial Kingdom.
By the way, the passage you cite above is also graphically depicted in Zechariah 14:1-5.
At that time Christ will come, and all His saints with Him. He could not come with all His saints unless He had first gathered them to Himself. This is the First Resurrection and the Rapture.
