Hijacking Jesus
Hijacking Jesus
By Forsloff Carol
Want a job out of jail free, are part of the "in" group, have a platform for politics, be able to say one thing and doing another, and cover up corruption? Everything you need to do is to use the name of Jesus, and you can just almost nothing. You can acquire power, become important and admired and manipulate people, events and information. You can plant on behalf of Jesus a bulletin board or somewhere on a T-shirt advertising in the media so much so that nobody will know you have it or not. You can excuse anything you do, have, or will just using his name enough. Hijacking of Jesus in all these ways, however, defiles his name and defamed his teachings love and simplicity. He has created deep divisions between individuals, religious groups, political parties, social organizations and nations. These divisions are more evident than today. It boils down to this: Jesus is a loving influence or influence for selfish, personal power?
An example of how Jesus became identified with the power has been demonstrated during the last 20 years by those who seek to instill a specific set of concepts in the social and political system of the United States. Many people have been innocently led to the political conviction, often inconsistent and hypocritical in the control of firearms, abortion, gay rights, affirmative action, gambling, divorce, pornography, contraceptives, prayer in schools, war and social programs, without investigating whether or not there was consistency between these beliefs and whether they are consistent with the message of Jesus and the behavior of those who marry. This has damaged relations at all levels and Jesus' reputation as well. A group or another may also refer to himself as being more "Christian" than the other, ignoring key issues that bind believers really.
According to the Pew Research Institute and the Graduate School of the City of New York most people in the United States, or between 75 and 86% say they believe in Jesus and identify themselves as Christians. However, conversations taking place among us often do not understand the principles of Jesus' love and compassion but contain personal judgments in decibels beyond artisans peace Jesus spoke of pitch. In fact, it became a game for people outside Jesus each other in the corridors of power in the neighborhoods and communities, with each side tries to maneuver the other full possession of Jesus as one would do with football.
The diversion has not only happened with Jesus, but with other important symbols and ideals of honor including the flag, patriotism, family values and love of country. It has sometimes been planned and executed with malice by the leaders of various stripes who use slogans and slander rather than reason and respect. At times, he has participated artificial, fragmented or misleading excerpts from legitimate sources include the honor texts and religious references in the government so that good people do not know who or what to believe.
Hackers love to talk about God and country, as if they are of equal importance. Are people to love their country as the love of God? Do not love all men as brothers means loving everyone without exception, since it's supposed to be the way God loves? When thousands of deaths in other parts of world, should not we mourn their loss as we would our own family, friends and neighbors? Should we excuse the war of aggression in a manner that is not faithful to the love of our brother as ourselves, and condemn those who protest that unpatriotic?
Many people who celebrate life with their advocacy in an area to deny another. For example, those who favor life in relation to abortion, sometimes resist help poor mothers and poor care for unwanted babies, to condemn the "sins" and refuse to consider program to provide social care important to those who can not care for themselves. Those who protest the war and the death penalty also reaffirm life. Yet there are those who advocate an issue that affirms life, but not others. Should we continue to segment our beliefs if we inhibit incoherent conversation and understanding?
Jesus spoke of "least of these" than those we should most interest. But why the poor, the disadvantaged, displaced persons and persons with disabilities so little and so badly treated by those who are rich or aspire to be? Indeed hijackers fear, but do not favor the poor. They worry about giving too much when they do too little gap between rich and poor in this country clearly shows.
There are many people who believe that Jesus had a great name and reputation and you all want this to stop. It belongs to everybody, not just some Pharisee as he would not be around much anyway. He told himself. So people should stop him division, supported him and made him a something he is not and was not. Let's release him and put our priorities on the principles he considered most important: Do you another first.
