Riding a Donkey

It takes skill to ride the little beast
and it helps if you are short too,
as dangling legs impedes the flow.
Jesus must’ve been short.
Probably 5’8’’ as the painting shows.
Else his entrance might have been delayed
dragging his heels the whole way.
Plus someone would have had to
wash his feet, dust and all.

What a lot of interesting thoughts you make about the stature of Jesus. The words do not flow very smoothly and my mind got delayed by the bumpy ride. Remember this was a colt, the foal of an @ss so maybe it was a lot closer to the ground. It was a humble experience and with palm branches strewn on the road, this might have lessened the dust. This was a joyous occasion and maybe slowing the procession would have been welcome. I love the side thoughts you bring in with very few words. A few word changes and atmospheric change would enhance your imagery. This is a poem worth working on. God’s blessings.
