Small Baby Jesus Figurine

Ritualistic Worship?

Ok so my mom has the nativity scene in her house (we’ve been christians all our lives so it’s always been there) but I never really looked closely at it until today.

I noticed that instead of a baby jesus in the manger, there’s a small figurine of a man in a purple outfit with a red and gold helmet and gold gloves and boots. I asked her about it and she said that it was jesus and I’m just being difficult. I’m worried about her, what should I do?

That has nothing to do with rituals…

a ritual is something done repetetively, routinely… a religious ritual is simply a religioius worship service that follows a specific format each time. I don’t know how that word got a bad rap or why people think ritual=evil.

I’ve actually never heard of a doll like that, and can’t imagine what it is doing in a Christian nativity scene. It sounds like a super-hero action figure. Maybe it has sentimental value to her? Maybe she lost the baby Jesus when she was a child and replaced it with some cheesy 80’s superhero?

I wouldn’t really be worried about something like that– sounds quirky, but that’s all.
